Windhoek Airport
Upon arrival at Windhoek airport, we will board a Wilderness Air Namibia flight to Hoanib Skeleton Coast for an exciting three-day tour. During these three days, we will be exploring Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp. Situated at the confluence of two tributaries in a wide valley of the Kaokoveld Desert, the camp provides an unforgettable base from which to experience the desolate Skeleton Coast and the private Palmwag Concession, teeming with desert-adapted wildlife. The exclusive and wonderfully remote accommodation can only be accessed by light aircraft, providing a sense of seclusion and luxury. The camp consists of just seven twin-bedded suites and one family unit, each featuring shaded outdoor decks with breathtaking views of the valley’s starkly beautiful, moon-like landscape.
Scenic flights over desert landscapes will reveal shipwrecks, vast dune fields, floodplains, and the Auses Spring. Exploring the Hoanib Riverbed may lead to sightings of elephant, lion, giraffe, gemsbok, and springbok, as well as shaggy brown hyenas and opportunistic black-backed jackals. Alternatively, a visit to the rocky shoreline will provide an opportunity to encounter the noisy Cape fur seal colony. We will also have the chance to unravel the mysterious history of the ancient Strandloper people and the enigmatic stone circles they left behind, as well as encounter the Welwitschia on a nature walk – one of the oldest and most unusual plants on the planet.
