Arusha
Arrive in Arusha and transfer to your hotel. Relax, have some evening cocktails and nice food, and then enjoy a good night’s rest.
As you prepare for the upcoming climb, take some time to acclimatize by exploring the breathtaking Arusha National Park. Nestled between the awe-inspiring peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, this picturesque park offers diverse landscapes, from serene crater lakes teeming with waterfowl to lush highland montane forests and stunning summit vistas. The forest is home to a rich array of wildlife, from playful black-and-white colobus monkeys to majestic bushbucks. In the evening, savor a delightful welcome dinner in the company of fellow guests.
Travel from Arusha to Machame village, which is perched on the magnificent slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, and set off on an adventure. The Machame Route offers a strenuous and scenic climb to start your adventure. Walk for around six hours through forests of huge figs and rubber trees to arrive at your campground, which is tucked away next to old huts that were originally used as refuge. Watch out for the magnificent elephants that inhabit the region as you rise through the verdant jungle. At last, camp at your first location, which is impressively situated at 10,000 feet.

Start day 4 on a high note as the aroma of freshly made coffee or tea fills the air as the sun rises, creating the ideal atmosphere for a wonderful start to your day in the mountains. Take a minute to appreciate the breathtaking view of Uhuru Peak, the final goal of your Kilimanjaro adventure, before you depart from camp. Your hike today will take you out of the thick forest and into the Hagenia zone, where the vegetation opens out into a savanna with dramatic volcanic vistas and high grasses.
You’ll arrive at your overnight camping at the Shira Plateau following a thrilling six-hour climb. The Shira Plateau, which rises to an astonishing 12,500 feet, offers sweeping vistas of the Masai Steppe and far-off views of Mount Meru and the Shira Needles. Enjoy this moment of victory and the stunning surroundings as you continue to climb with Safari Soul Africa toward the peak.

On this six-hour hike, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views as you traverse the Shira Plateau towards the awe-inspiring Kibo Massif. The trail will lead you upwards to the Lava Tower, which sits at an impressive elevation of 15,000 feet. As you descend towards Barranco Camp, you’ll be surrounded by the majestic Grand Barranco Canyon, adorned with picturesque waterfalls and nourished by streams from the Umbwe River. Your camp for today is nestled at a height of 13,000 feet, offering a spectacular vantage point for the surrounding natural beauty.

On this day, you will walk along the Barranco Cliff for about five hours without going uphill. This gives you time to rest and get used to the higher altitudes. In the afternoon, you will walk in the Karanga Valley, below the icefalls of the Heim, Decken, and Kersten glaciers.

Today, you will hike to Kosovo Camp, a high and secluded spot on the mountain. This will help you get ready for the final climb. After lunch, take it easy and enjoy the views. Kosovo Camp is windy, but in the evening, you’ll see amazing sights of nearby Mawenzi peak. Have dinner, then rest and get used to the altitude.

Get an early start with a hot cup of coffee or tea before embarking on a 12 to 16-hour trek. Your goal today is to reach the highest point in Africa, which should take about seven hours. You’ll follow a winding path between the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers to reach Stella Point, located at 18,630 feet on the rim of Kibo Crater. Then, as the sun rises, you’ll continue around the rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 19,341 feet. Take a moment to appreciate your accomplishment before descending to your last campsite at 10,200 feet.

Walk down the mountain for two to three hours until you meet your Safari Soul Africa driver, who will warmly welcome you and take you back to Arusha. Share a farewell lunch with your fellow guests, celebrating your achievements. Join our staff for a farewell party, where they will also hand you different customized gifts and souvenirs. Relax in comfortable dayrooms until it’s time for your departure.
